Final Writing Assignment: Reflect on your "journey" over the past semester. How have you grown artistically and/or creatively?
My journey throughout this art class has expanded a ton, I've done things I would of never thought I would have done. Like the scrapbook, whenever I ever tried doing one it always looked terrible. But when I did mine and it turned out really good I was so happy it turned out good. Now when I go into an art store I think of all the things I could get and decorate. And I LOVE Pintrest now and trying all the things on there, when before I would never even attempt them.
Which project do you believe was your most successful and why?
My most successful project this year was my elephant pencil drawing. Because I put the most work into it, planning it out and staying up all night to do it. I chose doing an elephant because in the beginning of the year I made an elephant out of clay just playing around and really enjoyed the cute little elephant.
Discuss the importance of developing and promoting creativity in school.
The importance of developing and promoting creativity in our school is so important everybody needs that artistic skill, you can't just be boring. Making posters, power points etc. having the most creative one makes it interesting and will give you better grades. Helping kids learn how to make things more interesting, they should never stop requiring art and helping kids create things to make the world more beautiful.
Discuss the importance of creativity ("Right Brain Thinking" according to Daniel Pink) in the up-and-coming job market.
The importance of creativity in the job market is that things where hands on is needed will never go out of the market. Nothing can replace what only humans can do. And being better than everyone else will guarantee a job forever. Having that creativity will really come in handy when someone wants their house redone or a new one made, when people want someone to redo their kitchen or even when a team needs new jerseys made, something unique and new. And only humans can create the new designs and draw out the design that people want. Thus causing those creative hands on jobs to become super important.
Glass Vessel
1. I chose doing the pink on the inside from Pintrest and thought it was the coolest thing, but afterwards It needed more then looking through all the prom things I found those leaf things, and remembered I had gold spray paint. So I put masking tap on it and created the strips.
2. The hardest part was getting the paint to dry, it took all week to wait for it to dry to even do anything. An each day I would touch it to see if it was dry and I would ruin it and I have to fix it almost everyday.
3. I really enjoy this piece because it's different from everyone else's. And I really like the color match, it sounded super crazy but turned out great. I'm very proud of this.
Vision Tool
1. I choose become a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader because I have wanted to do it ever sense I was little I always watched the show and I love the football team and defiantly think their quarter back is the most gorgeous thing in the entire world. :)
2. What was hard about doing the window, was taking off what someone had before. They super glued like everything on! So i used soap and water and scrubbed almost all night and finally got it off. The easy part was painting it but writing on it was impossible! I would mess up every time and couldn't erase it because for some reason pencil wouldn't erase then I used my old silver nail polish and I'm sure I lost brain cells because the smell was horrific!
3. I love love love this piece because it's my dream and my most favorite thing in one. I feel it expresses everything I work for in cheer and in school. It just sums me up as a person and it's something I want to really work for and do.
Life Story
1. I chose doing a scrapbook because I've always wanted to scrapbook but never really had anything to scrapbook.
2. The problems were trying to find all of the pictures, I had to search. But after I got started it was easy but trying to fill the page when I was younger was hard but as I got older it was hard to find any room left.
3. I love this piece a lot, because it was really nifty looking at all the pictures and remembering all those memories I forgot about, and I was so proud of myself knowing I can scrapbook and it actually looked really good.
Pencil Drawing
1. I choose an elephant because earlier in the year I made one out of clay just to play around and just really liked how cute it was and how easy it was too.
2. The problems I had was drawing the head, trying to make it look the right shape but trying to make it so I can place the pencils in later. I found the picture on the internet but I didn't trace it so I was more proud of it. And there wasn't a body on it so I made my own body to the head.
3. I really love this piece, when I was first shown this I was like, that's the silliest thing but after I was doing it, it was quite challenging and fun to do, I loved watching how the white just smoothed everything out, and I was nice using a white colored pencil for the first time. Tape Mural
1. We chose sports because it's a big part in all of our lives and we're all in something different which is why we just did everything.
2. Trying to get everything to look like it's spouse to, like the football and golf clubs were the hardest, what we did was just make smaller pieces of tape and piece them together.
3. Maybe have more room, like not have a bunch of murals all in one place, have it all over.
4. I liked how the groups are, I think we had the biggest mural and we only had three people and we got it done and it looked great. Some groups had like five people and made the smallest mural.
Chess Piece
1. My Chess piece was a Bishop
2. I chose it because when I was looking for some ideas online, I just really liked this one, it really caught my eye and was simple and I LOVED the cross. I liked how it was cute and plain but the cross just made the entire piece.
3. The hardest part was trying to get the head bigger than the body and make it round, and also when I had a huge hole in the middle of it.
4. The easiest part was putting the cross on, but trying to make it even was hard. I had to cut a lot off, which made me so nervous to do. I felt like the piece was just going to get ruined by cutting off more clay.
5. I wish I had a little bit more to go off from, like some ideas from other students, but sense it was the first year, I can understand I think it'll be a lot easier on the kids next year, seeing the examples from this year.
I can create use my art skills to create unique and innovative works of art and design unique products.
Playing Card
1. In the first place I choose to do something that related to Valentine's Day and I really liked the swirl part of the number 5 and when I found the heart with the swirl I had to do it. Then adding the sparkles and different colors of the tissue paper made it really pop. And was worth the very long process.
2. When I added the hearts and the numbers and then paint it looked so boring so I added the sparkles and still dull, then that's when I got the idea to use tissue paper for the background. Adding the tissue paper around the numbers and hearts was what I thought impossible. I don't like I it didn't fully cover every part of white around it.
3. When I first put the tissue paper down I wasn't sure if I liked it at all, but now that it's done I really like how it has a lot of color and sparkles, but the 5 I feel like is dark and hard to see but I still like it. I felt like I was out of my comfort zone and it was scary thinking of how to make a playing card, like I had no idea what to do with barley any rules. But I feel it was a really good start for my first project.
